1.8 – Deception

Plot:

While Leatherback is destroyed, Otachi is still at large, and she intends on hunting down Godzilla.

Full Summary:

Otachi returns, and she makes her way to Osaka. Meanwhile, Battra senses her presence and transforms into his adult form. He then engages in a vicious dogfight with the Kaiju, but is soon forced to fall back when Otachi nearly shreds his wings.  She then encounters Kumonga, who traps her in webbing, and Kamacuras arrives to attack.  Otachi, however, is intelligent by Kaiju standards, and she kills them after bathing them in acid.  She flies off as the two insect Kaiju dissolve completely.

The Kaiju arrives in Osaka, where Godzilla was headed for a nuclear plant. The two engage in a fierce fight, and Shinji sees that Godzilla is losing and is finally convinced; he decides to help Godzilla, so he and Azusa launch Gipsy Danger.

The Jaeger and Kaiju fight, but Otachi grabs them both and takes flight. She flies above the atmosphere, but Godzilla bites her in the throat, tearing out her sack, while Azusa employs the Chain Sword and cuts Otachi in half with it, killing the flying terror. They all plummet back to the surface; Godzilla dives into the sea and swims away, Gipsy Danger lands in a baseball field, using its chest cannon to slow its plummet down, and Otachi’s carcass lands on the Osaka Castle.

Masato decides to give his kids a day off while the Jaeger is repaired and prepped for a final assault on the Breach. Masato, Natsumi, and Konno investigate the area, where black market dealers are illegally harvesting the organs from Otachi’s body, but learn too late that the Kaiju was pregnant, and a fetus comes out of the womb, devouring Konno alive, and chasing Masato and Natsumi before dying prematurely. Masato and Natsumi mourn Konno, and Natsumi finds his shoe and decides to keep it as a tribute. They then see something moving in the baby’s carcass. Konno somehow survived, and he cuts his way out of the throat, demanding the whereabouts of his missing shoe...
