1.11 – Insect Invaders (Season Finale)

Plot:

The five kids have to deal with the prehistoric dragonfly Megaguirus and the return of Godzilla.

Full Summary:

It’s been three months since Godzilla’s meltdown, and life seems to be much easier. But one day, a boy in Beijing, China, finds an enormous egg. Mistaking it for a piece of garbage left behind, he throws it down the sewer. Big mistake, as it floods streets, and soon a majority of the city is evacuated.

The next day, people started disappearing, the cause being large Meganulon insects, which are actually giant larva forms of Meganula, human-sized dragonflies with ravenous appetites. Mothra is summoned to stop the swarm, but is rapidly brought down, and she drowns in the sea, but not before destroying several Meganula. The survivors return to transfer the stolen life force into a huge cocoon before they die. The cocoon stirs and opens, revealing their hideous queen: Megaguirus

Sensing Mothra’s death, Belvera summons Battra to find the killer in an attempt to gain control over it. As she scans, Megaguirus flies past them and then turns to attack. Battra fight back, but is ruthlessly killed and drained of his energy, and Belvera is forced to retreat. Unfortunately, Megaguirus wants more power.

Masato and his friends have become the crew for Super-Mechagodzilla and are sent to deal with Megaguirus, who is on her way to Kyoto. She quickly disables the mecha unit and attacks the kids, only to be distracted by Rodan. As the two engage in a dogfight, Megaguirus is winning thanks to her speed, but she is soon swatted out of the sky by a stream of atomic fire.

The kids turn to see what it was: a new Godzilla emerges from the sea, lighter in color than the Godzilla they knew, with less pointy-eye crests and its pupils are no longer cat-like but human-like. Natsumi also notices what seems to be a huge scar webbing across the chest. She realizes that this Gojiran is JUNIOR! Masato suspects that when Godzilla released all of his radiation during the meltdown, Junior must have absorbed it and he wasn’t just revived, but also mutated into a fully-grown adult.

Godzilla rushes in and helps Rodan tackle down Megaguirus, who drains some of Godzilla’s energy and uses it for her own attacks. Fortunately, Rodan bites off Megaguirus’ stinger and Godzilla obliterates her with an atomic blast. The two return to their homes, and the kids rejoice the survival of their friend. Elsewhere, Gyozen is frustrated and plots to rid the world of the new Kaiju king…
