Description
(I actually named this dinosaur after Sabor, the leopard from Tarzan)
Later, after the attack, Sabrina and I quietly followed the same Tartarudon; it was feasting on a few carcasses. Theropods can be pretty wasteful, and this is an opportunity for scavengers like Saborosaurus.
Saborosaurus is the last of the primitive abelisaur theropods. Like their ancestors, it had a stubby snout, sturdy legs, and tiny, useless arms. Abelisaurs were only mid-sized theropods; as long as there’s not a bigger predator like a carnosaur, they dominate the area. We saw a Saborosaurus feeding on an unattended carcass quietly, for Tartarudon will attack any competitor in its territory. It soon left, and it took a leg with it.
Fortunately for us, Saborosaurus wasn’t a true killer; its jaws are actually weak. We concluded it to be primarily a scavenger.
