2.4 – Holy Beasts

Plot:

Gyozen kidnaps Asuka and steals Kiryu in an attempt to destroy Godzilla, but the Yamato Guardians become involved in the fight.

Full Summary:

Gyozen finds Asuka alone with her grandfather. He tries to stop him, but Gyozen shoots him and takes Asuka with him inside Kiryu. Meanwhile, Godzilla is on his way to Yokohama, seeking out his “brother.”

Elsewhere, the other children feel the spirits of the Yamato Guardians, and Masato realizes that the beads are mana chargers; they create a psychic link between the Yamato Guardians and the humans who bear them.

Baragon erupts out of the ground near a police station, Manda skims through the forest from Lake Ikeda, and Varan breaks free from his icy prison and glides. All three are heading to Yokohama.

Masato & Shinichi both sneak into Kiryu to rescue Asuka and stop Gyozen, but it gets tricky as they get thrown around while Godzilla fights Kiryu. When Godzilla becomes unconscious from a maser blast, Masato fights Gyozen while Shinichi gets Asuka out. Suddenly, the mana chargers glow. The Yamato Guardians have arrived.

The three fight Kiryu viciously, but the mecha is able to hold them off. Varan grapples with Kiryu, who drives his plasma sword into Varan’s arm and starts electrocuting him. Stragely, Masato feels the exact same pain when it happens. Soon, Godzilla comes back and blasts Kiryu with atomic fire. Kiryu counters by drilling into Godzilla’s stomach, and he howls in pain before collapsing, unconscious.

Gyozen declares that he’s won, and prepares to fire the Absolute Zero Cannon, but gets no response at all, and he is suddenly ejected out. Kiryu re-awoke as Godzilla, and was quick to defend his brother. “Rescuing” him and flying to the sea, they both plunged down and Kiryu shut down permanently. The Yamato Guardians return to their resting places. Gyozen is found and placed under arrest for his actions.

Konno welcomes Asuka into Team Goji, and the kids have pizza while watching a movie. Konno also can’t help but stare romantically at Asuka.
